We installed power and PLC controls for a new railway unloading station, including power and PLC controls for the conveyance system leaving the unloading station. The project also included new motor control centers and VFDs.

Method

This project involved a new soap processing and bottling facility on Chicago’s Pullman neighborhood. The result was a LEED platinum manufacturing facility with 3 solar trees harvesting sunlight and one 500KW wind turbine supplementing power to their bottling facility.

Canal Barge

Sharlen has installed all electrical systems needed to automate 25 tanks, 4 truck loading stations, 3 barge unloading/loading cells, and 3 rail unloading/loading stations. We also installed 2 site services (1200A and 800A), the site grounding grid, a new office building, networking and programming for bill of lading system, tank inventory tracking, and we maintained site lighting.

O’Hare International Airport

This project took place at the terminal 3 H&K Food Court O’Hare Airport. Sharlen demoed offices and redirected feeds for the American Airlines Club. We provided new power lighting and fire alarm systems for the food court and various shops around the food court.

Chicago Police District Offices

A new 1st district police station was built from the ground up, including all electrical work, security systems, cameras, access, and vandal-proof lighting and devices. Sharlen also performed the 17th district police station building addition and existing building renovation.

CPD Boat House

This project is scheduled for competition in summer of 2016. Working with Walsh Construction, the job is brand new out of ground on Chicago riverfront for Chicago Park district. Sharlen is installing full electrical, low voltage, lighting control, and fire alarm systems.

Lexington Pumping Station

The project consisted of both the relocation of very large existing infrastructure improvements and the construction of two new buildings to house four stationary 2.5 MW generators and an electrical building to house switchgear for four generators and one additional 2.5 MW portable generator that can be connected when a stationary generator is being serviced. This stand-by generation facility for Lexington Pump Station was constructed and financed by the DuPage Water Commission in partnership with the City of Chicago. Our electrical installation also included providing and installing a variable-frequency drive system to control a 2,500 horsepower synchronous motor and a 2,000 horsepower synchronous motor. After this project, Sharlen was the recipient of the Award for Project Excellence (APEX), presented by Lake County Contractors.

James Hardie

Sharlen worked with Interior Alterations Inc. on this project, which involved a tenant buildout in an existing building, new electrical service, new lighting and outlets in offices, new lighting and outlets in test labs, new fire alarm system, and new voice and data wiring.
