Dwight

This project involved a 694-bed dormitory in the South Loop. The North Clark Street project, Smithfield Construction, and Sharlen Electric renovated the 10-story Dwight building and built a new 16-story tower next to and atop the existing structure. Electrical work included the demolition of existing electrical systems, 3 new electrical services, lighting, power, communications, and fire alarm systems.

Beacon Hill

This project entailed the addition of new wing to a retirement home in Lombard, IL. Sharlen rebuilt old switchgear, added a small generator, new switchgear, and a new kitchen, theatre, and dining area.

Olson Pavilion

Sharlen worked with Walsh Construction on this project: a 242-unit assisted-care facility. We remodeled an existing facility in multiple phases, including a new addition, new electrical service, a new indoor generator, new lighting/controls, a fire alarm system, a security system, a nurse call system, CCTV, and voice/data/TV systems.

Chicago/LaSalle

Sharlen worked with Smithfield Construction on this project, a 297-unit 34-story condominium building. We installed multiple electrical services, bus duct risers, an indoor generator, individual metering, lighting/controls, a fire alarm system, an area of rescue assistance, and voice/data/TV systems.

Hilton Garden Inn

Sharlen completed this project in the summer of 2015 with Walsh Construction. The project entailed a brand new out of the ground 27-story hotel on the Chicago river with 192 rooms. Sharlen installed complete electrical work and fire alarm system in the building, and we also installed a new 350KW generator.

AMLI Residential

This project involved twin 11-story multi-tenant apartments, totalling 398 units, joined together with a high-end courtyard. We also constructed two indoor parking garages and two exterior parking garages, rooftop patios, and outdoor second-story swimming pool.

Nalco Chemical

We have completed multiple projects at Nalco Chemical as well as provide electrical maintenance throughout the plant on all things electrical, including power, lighting, telephone, data, controls, switchgear, heat trace, etc.  Some projects are class 1, division 2.  Sharlen provided power and PLC control wiring and terminations for liquid process control, including wiring and terminations for instrumentation and valves. We installed a new 1,200-amp motor control center to replace old MCC, with minimal disruption of the existing process. We completed a plant arc flash study and created a new one-line diagrams for the entire facility, which has 7 different ComEd feeder locations.  We also completed installation of a new water treatment chemical process including new 3000-amp ComEd service, switchgear and MCC’s.  We have provided power and controls for various pumps, tanks, filters, RTUs, VFD’s, evaporators, etc. over the last several years.

Nidera

Sharlen installed new product silos, conveyors, motor control, automations, and grounding, handling continuous service calls.

AOS Asphalt

Sharlen worked with Carlson Contractors on this project, which took place at an industrial tank farm. The work included loading and unloading via barge, rail, and truck, new electrical service, power wiring to a multiple of motors, motor control centers, VFD’s, control wiring, HID lighting at the tops of the tanks and along the rail platform, and grounding.
